Progress
I found a couple keyboards in a dumpster behind work the day after st. patricks day. I am now using the gold case (Pot of Gold) as my suitcase studio.
I finally caught up with my money goals. I was approved for a credit card that has no interest for the next three months. I'm going to put all suitcase studio costs on this card with the intention of paying it off before my co-op is over. I will end the account after it is payed off.
I will be purchasing an Apple mini Mac, a MOTU traveler, a Behringer USB mixer, an SM Pro Audio 8 channel analog-ADAT converter, and supplies to customize the case to make it as easy to use as possible. Once I get a good portion of that paid off, I will start buying peripherals for the system such as microphones, stands, speakers, a projector/screen, and eventually a video camera. Once all of these things are purchased, I will be able to make money with the suitcase studio by recording live performances, doing sound for video projects, recording albums with people who don't live near each other, and doing concerts all around the northeast-as i can take it on a bus, train, or borrow a car from a friend. So i consider this an invenstment and not a dive into debt.
The past month has been difficult because i've been working a lot and devoting a lot of my energy to SUGr. Once i get the tools, my job will become much easier. Since i started recording, I have been fashioning tools on my own and dealing with sub-standard performance with my tools. I do not want to start offering services to people if i cannot provide them perfectly every time. Call me a perfectionist, but it's what i feel i should do.
